1942. Luxembourg is occupied by Nazi Germany. Jean is a baker and confectioner in Mersch. The family's maid is caught stealing and dismissed. To avoid arrest, she denounces Jean, who listens to the illegal BBC broadcast. Jean is arrested and spends the entire war in various concentration camps. Two years after the war, his family receives news that Jean has died in the Buchenwald concentration camp.
